System trick: Completely “send away” Skype for Business

Skype for Business is used by relatively few people in China, but Windows 10 comes with this tool, and it may also start itself. after Skype for Business runs, click to close the program window, there will still be related services running in the background. If you are sure that you no longer use it, it is better to disable it or just clear it out of the system completely.

1. Disable Skype’s self-start in Skype settings

Open “Settings→Tools→Options” in Skype, go to the next step, select “Personalization”, and then uncheck the “Automatically start applications when I log in to Windows and launch them in the foreground Then uncheck the “Automatically start applications when I log on to Windows and launch them in the foreground” option. 2.

2. Uninstall using Control Panel and Registry Editor

Open the Skype for Business login screen and select the “Delete my login information” button to clear the cache of all user profiles for your Skype for Business account and disable automatic login when the application is opened. Close Skype for Business.

Then, uninstall Skype for Business as you would any other software on your computer. open the Control Panel “Programs and Features” window and select “Skype for Business → Uninstall”. In the Start menu of the latest version of Windows 10, right-click Skype for Business and select “Uninstall” to complete the uninstallation as well (Figure 1).

If the information about Skype still pops up after uninstallation, open the Registry Editor, click “Edit→Find” menu command, search for “Skype”, and perform “Delete” operation on all entries found (Figure 2).

Restart your computer so that you can completely remove Skype for Business.

3. Borrow Office deployment tools to exclude the uninstallation method

If there is a problem with normal uninstallation, we can also borrow the Office Deployment Tool to exclude Skype for Business from the Office installation process in order to uninstall the software.

Run the Microsoft Office Customization Tool and replace the current configuration in the configuration.xml file that comes with the tool with the following.

Execute the command “cd c:ODT2016” in the administrator command prompt window. Go to the path where the Office Deployment Tools directory is saved.

Execute the following command to download the installation file.

setup.exe /download configuration.xml

After the file is downloaded, execute the configuration with the following command.

setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

After the configuration is complete, all allowed Microsoft Office suite applications will be installed except Skype for Business.
