System hacks: Creating a resource management environment for programming beginners

As a computer enthusiast, you will generally be exposed to one or more programming languages, and the process of programming is certainly not without resource management. Before that, creating a Windows resource management environment suitable for programming can greatly improve the efficiency of programming.

Tip: This article takes the most popular Windows 10 system as an example, most of the operations are also applicable to Windows 7 or Windows 8.

1. Identify the file type Show file extensions

During the development process, you must consider the extension of the file type, and you often use the “Folder Options” window to modify the display of file extensions or not. In fact, in Windows 10 Explorer, you can only use the “File extensions” and “Hidden items” checkboxes in the “Show/hide” column in the “View” menu under the function panel. In fact, in Windows 10 Explorer, you can turn on the file extensions display only by using the “Show/Hide” column in the “Show/Hide” bar under the “View” menu and the “Hidden Items” checkbox (Figure 1).

2. Don’t miss any files Show protected hidden files

For developers, it is sometimes necessary to work with system files that have hidden and protected properties. To do so, you need to uncheck “Hide protected operating system folders” and select the “Show hidden files, folders and drives” option in the “Folder Options” window. To do so, you need to unhide “Hide protected operating system folders” and select “Show hidden files, folders and drives” in the “Folder Options” window to show them. 3.

Manage all devices Make empty hidden devices visible

During the programming process, in order not to miss possible devices, we need to make all empty drives visible as well, and Explorer will implicitly show empty drives by default. In this case, remove the option to “Hide empty drives” from the list of advanced settings in the Folder Options settings window. 4.

4. Show target location Quickly locate the path of the referenced program file

The paths of referenced programs or files are frequently used in the programming process. To do this, check the “Show full path in title bar” option in the advanced settings list of “Folder Options”, so that the full path of the resource can be seen in the title bar of the opened resource window.

5. Change the user test to run the program as another user

In the Windows programming field, “user” is included in the resource management as a special resource, just like files and devices. In the process of program development, it may be necessary to switch between users to test the program. To do this, we add the relevant item to the Start menu right-click command.

First run GPEDIT.MSC to open the Group Policy Editor, expand “User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Start Menu and Taskbar”, double-click to open the “Show Run as other user in Start” item, set to “Enable” can be set. After that, right-click on the “Start” menu applications, you can select “Run as other users” (Figure 2).

If you are using a newer version of Windows 10 (e.g., version 1903 to 2004), you can also easily set the above options in a centralized manner directly through the system’s “Settings” window. Click “Settings → Update and Security → Developer Options”, locate the “File Explorer” section, and follow the “Apply the following settings to make File Explorer more suitable for development ” prompt, select the items you want to set, and then click the “Apply” button to make the settings take effect. You can also click “Show Settings” directly after each item to enable or access these settings (Figure 3).
