Creating an outline (multilevel list) beforetyping a list in Microsoft Word 2019

  1. Create a new document or select an existing document to construct amultilevel list.
  2. Select the Home tab and choose themultilevel list icon in the Paragraphgroup.
  1. Select a style from the ListLibrary, as illustrated in the followingscreenshot:

  1. Type the first line of list text, and press Enter.
  2. Use the Tab key on the keyboard to go to the nextnumbered level, or press Shift + Tab to return to theprevious level.
  1. Once the list is complete, press Enter twice on thekeyboard to return to normal typing.
If your list is not looking quite as you envisaged, you will need totweak the list by adjusting indents. The best way to do this is toselect a level of your list and use the ruler to change either the leftor hanging indent increments.
