In the childhood of the teeth, many children will have a dream of a painter, often doodling around, leaving their own paintings on the walls and floors. Even after growing up, some people like to paint and draw when they are quiet and spontaneous. Today we want to bring you a hand-drawing tool – SketchBook (https://www.sketchbook.com/thankyou), which is originally the famous Autodesk company launched a paid drawing software, so you can imagine its drawing ability is It is a powerful drawing tool.
SketchBook has hundreds of brushes, such as pencils, brushes, hard and soft spray pens, ballpoint pens, etc. It is a must-have tool for every artist. Check the “Brush Library” under the “Window” menu to open the brushes, you can see that there are more than ten types, such as synthetic paint, traditional, texture, halo, designer, etc. (Figure 1) There are also more than ten kinds of brushes under each type, after selecting a certain brush, just double-click it to open the “Brush” menu. The brush, you can open the “Brush Properties” settings panel, you can usually modify the pen size, transparency, pressure, etc., different brush adjustment properties are not the same. Usually we want to draw wonderful works, the first of which is to be more familiar with the various pens here.
Many people start by copying, and SketchBook has a wide range of brushes and the ability to add layers, so we can play around with them. For example, if you want to copy an existing image, you can do so.
Open SketchBook, check the “Layer Editor” under the “Window” menu, then click the “Add Image” button to open the image you want to copy, hold down the Press and hold the left mouse button on the layer to bring up a circular menu, point to which menu you can select the menu command (Figure 2), here select “Rename Layer”, named sample image.
Click “New Layer” to add a new layer, for example, to copy the clouds in the picture, you can first click the upper-left corner of the color plate select “Color Picker”, and then click on the picture to absorb the color, and then switch to the ” Brush Library”, select “Artist” under the “Salt Watercolor” (Figure 3), and then drag on the canvas to draw the clouds. In the “Brush Properties” panel on the right, you can also adjust the pressure, size, spacing and other properties of the brush, so that the clouds drawn will be more diverse.
Symmetry drawing method
In addition to abundant pens, SketchBook also provides some drawing aids, such as ruler, perspective guide, scaling, distortion, etc. Especially the symmetry tool, which can not only draw up and down, left and right symmetrical shapes, but also set multi-axis symmetry.
Check the “Toolbar” under the “Window” menu, then click “Symmetry” tool (Figure 4), select “Radial Symmetry” at the bottom. “, you can set the number of axes next to it, and then draw any figure on the canvas, you can see the corresponding symmetry map will be generated. If you then use the “Transform” tool to distort the processing, then let the symmetry becomes asymmetric.
SketchBook can not only draw, but also create animations, which certainly increases its value. If you are good at drawing, you can create a simple animation.
Choose “New Animation Book” under the menu “File”, then draw at 1F (frame 1), or choose ” Add Image” under the menu “File” to create the animation with pictures. After the first frame is finished, click 2F to draw or import the picture in the second frame (Figure 5), if you want to increase the number of frames, you can modify the number directly in the playback control panel, so that you can add new frames.
After the animation is finished, click “Play” button to watch the animation, the finished animation can be saved in various formats to share, choose “Export Animation Book” under “File” menu (Figure 6). ), in “Export as” you can export the animation as PNG or PSD sequence (that is, save the animation as a single PNG or PSD picture in order), where the PSD format will retain the original layers, which means that you can go directly to Photoshop for secondary retouching. There are also two video formats, WMV and MP4. If you choose the “Animation GIF” format, the animation can be used in WeChat, QQ and other tools as an expression animation when communicating.
In addition to doodling on your computer, SketchBook also lets you doodle on the go. The app can be installed on both Android and Apple systems, turning our phones and tablets into digital drawing pads.
Search for “SketchBook” in the App of your mobile device and install it. After opening the software, follow the instructions to register an account and login (Figure 7). For example, after you finish drawing, click the “Share” button and select “Other”, you can directly share the picture to WeChat friends, friend groups or qq, etc., which is quite convenient. Compared with mouse painting, it is much easier to doodle directly on mobile devices.
Of course, a good drawing software can only improve efficiency, to draw well, but also to have ideas, creative, have “two brushes” to do.
