Software recommendation: easy to take the audio inside the video

Sometimes, we need to extract audio from video files to play. For example, some sit-down old professor’s lecture video, the core content of which is the audio rather than the picture, if converted into audio files to play, not only can save storage space, but also can close eyes and turn off the screen to save energy while listening. So, how can we extract the useful audio from the video?

1. Use the audio recording command of the playback software

Using the sound recording function of Potplayer video player, you can record the sound in the process of playing the video by the way.

First, open the video file in Potplayer to play, pause it, position the video to the starting position of audio recording by playing the progress bar, then right-click the playback screen, and select “Sound → Audio Track → Sound Recording” command in the pop-up menu (Figure 1).

You can also press the key combination Shift+G directly on the playback screen, which will bring up the audio track setting interface, in which you can specify the location of the audio file, select the output audio format and audio quality, and click the “Start” button to start recording (Figure 2). If “Record automatically when playback starts” is selected, audio recording will be done automatically at the same time when playback starts. The audio file will be automatically named with the original video file name plus date and time.

2. Use the transcoding tool of the playback software

Audio extraction from video files can also be done with transcoding tools that come with the playback software. For example, use the transcoding tool included in the toolbox of QQ Video Player to complete this task. Open QQ Video Player, click the Toolbox button at the bottom right corner of the playback window, and click the “Transcode” button in the Toolbox panel that pops up (Figure 3).

In the “Audio Video Transcoding” window, click the “Add File” button to add the video file to be processed, change the output file type to “Pure Audio File” in the output settings list, select the MP3 audio quality type, then specify the folder where the audio files are stored, and finally click the “Start” button to execute the audio extraction operation (Figure 4).

Tip: In addition to the option to output as MP3, you can also output in WMA format. In addition, click the “Parameter Settings” button to make more choices of output audio parameters (Figure 5).

3. Use the interception tool of the player software

In addition to the transcoding tools that come with the player, you can also use the interception tools of the video player to intercept audio clips. Take QQ Video’s interception tool as an example.

First, open the video file to be processed in the QQ video player. Perform a pause, and then click the “Intercept” button in the toolbox panel to start the interception screen (Figure 6).

First drag the left slider to position the starting position to be intercepted, then use the back slider to position the end position to be intercepted, and finally click the “Save” button. In the “Save Video/Audio” window that pops up afterwards, select the “Save Audio Only” option, specify the audio format, specify the location and file name of the audio to be saved, and click the “OK” button. button to extract the audio (Figure 7).

4. Use a special format conversion tool

If the player we use does not have audio extraction or format conversion function, then you can also extract audio with the help of special format conversion tool software. For example, use software such as Format Factory and Super Convert Show to do it.

Take Format Factory as an example, first launch the software and select any kind of audio file as the output file in the “Audio” selection field, for example, click the “->WMA” button (Figure 8).

In the audio conversion configuration window that pops up afterwards, click the “Add File” button to add the original video file, then click the “Output Configuration” button to select the output audio quality parameters, and then use the lower “Change “button to specify the location of the audio output. Finally, click the “OK” button to extract the audio from the video file as an audio file according to the specified parameters (Figure 9).

Tip: If you want to extract the audio from multiple video software and merge it into one audio file, you can use the audio merging tool in the Format Factory toolbox to first add multiple video files, then set the audio parameters and perform the merging operation, you can merge and extract the audio from multiple videos into one audio file.
