The Task Manager that comes with Windows 10 allows us to manage basic items such as processes, performance, startup, and services. If we need to manage more items, such as analyzing the DLL library call relationship, program process execution efficiency, program use of network, program use of files, driver sources, etc., we can do it with the help of Advanced Task Manager (ATM for short) software.

First, download and install ATM ( Towards the end of the software installation, it will automatically analyze the processes and drivers in the system. Click on the Continue button and you can use it for free (Figure 1).


1. Automatic process scanning and security rating

After starting ATM, the software will list the results of automatic process and driver scans, and will also give a security risk assessment rating for each process. Note that a high security risk rating does not necessarily mean that the process is a threatening process, but only that it contains some features that are usually found in spyware or virus programs and require the user’s attention. If you think a process is suspicious, you can quarantine it immediately by pressing the Quarantine button. In addition, you can use this method to quarantine and close processes that you cannot normally end through Task Manager (Figure 2). 2.


2. Manage and control the StartUp project

Click the StartUp tab to enter the Startup project management interface. The upper pane shows all running startup items, while the lower pane shows the currently stopped startup items. If you want to terminate a running startup item, select it and click the Disable button, and the terminated item will appear in the lower pane (you can start it again with the Enable button). If you wish to remove a startup item from the system completely, click the Remove button to remove the item from the list. If you need to add a new startup item, click the Add button to add it (Figure 3).


3. Perform DLL dynamic link library call analysis

DLL files (short for Dynamic Link Library) in Windows contain code and data that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. If we want to know which programs call a certain DLL file, we can click on the DLLs tab, select the file list as DLL, then select the DLL file you want to see, expand the branch, and all the programs that call the DLL file will be listed below (Figure 4). If you choose the file list as Precess, you can see which DLL library files are associated with each process. 4.


4. at a glance Showing system execution efficiency

If we want to know the current execution efficiency of the Windows system, first click on the Performance tab, and then we can see a graphical analysis of CPU usage history, a list of programs from highest to lowest memory usage, all programs using network connections, current and average bandwidth of downloaded and uploaded data, total bandwidth, IP and MAC addresses, etc. (Figure 5).


5. Analyzing the specifics of a program’s use of the network

We can take a deeper look at a specific program to see how it uses the network. When you click on the Internet Connections tab, the upper pane shows the service programs listening for external commands on a port, and the lower pane shows the processes of the programs connected to the Internet. For each process, we can see the protocol used, listening status, IP address and port, PID number, etc. (Figure 6).


6. Analyze the specifics of the program’s file usage

If we need to know which files are used by a running program, we can click on the File Use tab and a list of currently running programs will be displayed in the upper pane. After selecting a program, the lower pane shows the list of files opened by that program (Figure 7).


7. Analyze the specifics of driver usage

What are the drivers on the system, where does each program come from, what are its corresponding file paths and filenames, and how safe is the program on the system? We can find the answer to this question after clicking on the Drivers tab. First find the driver you need to see from the list, then use the Description column and the details at the bottom of the screen to find out where the driver came from (Figure 8).
