Headers and footers in Microsoft Word 2019

A page header is an area at the top of the document where you can addtext, page numbers, or logos that repeat at the top of each page of thedocument. A footer is exactly the same, except it resides at the bottomof each page.

The header area is located at the top of the document:

When a header exists in a document, you will notice that theinformation in it is grayed out when you are in Print Layout view. This is because theinformation is not active at the present time. To activate thisarea and work in it, simply double-click on the existing header. Theheader area will open up, as shown in the preceding screenshot, and youwill be able to edit it. The same applies to the footer.
