System tip: Modify the text cursor to get back to the current location

Sometimes, when we work in a long document or presentation, because of accidentally scrolling the mouse and can not find the current cursor position. This situation is mainly due to the default cursor is inconspicuous due to the difficulty of finding. In this case, please do not easily click the mouse, otherwise it will make the original cursor shift. Then the following methods to modify the text cursor more conspicuous, you can easily find the original cursor position. 1.

1. in Windows 10 “Settings” to modify

First of all, you can try to change it through Windows Settings application. Click the “Start→Settings” button to enter the Windows Settings window, and then select “Easy to use” (Figure 1).


In the Easy to Use window that follows, click on Cursor and Pointer Size in the left pane. In the right pane, adjust the “Change cursor thickness” slider under “Make cursor easier to see when typing”, which will show the live status of the cursor in the demo box on the left. Adjust the cursor value to be thicker. Again, here we can also choose the size and color of the mouse cursor and pointer we want (Figure 2).


Finally, close the settings and go to the document and scroll the mouse again to find the current cursor position.

2. Use the registry editor to make changes

If there is a problem with the Windows Settings window and the adjustment slider does not work, you can try to use the Windows Registry to make changes.

First, press the Win+R key combination to open the “Run” dialog box. Type “regedit” and enter to open the registry editor (Figure 3).


In the Registry Editor window, navigate to “HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionAccessibility” in order. Find Configuration in the right pane of the screen and double-click it to set the value of the numeric data, which ranges from 1 to 5, where 1 means the lowest value and 5 means the highest value. After setting, click the OK button to save the changes (Figure 4).


Finally, go back to the previous document and scroll the mouse wheel to easily discover the original cursor position.

Tip: If you are using Windows 10 Build 18945 preview, you can disable or enable the text cursor indicator in Windows 10 settings, which can handle the problem of positioning the text cursor in long text.
