Some of our common simple viewing software, does not necessarily support RAW, PSD and other professional picture format picture viewing and processing, encounter this format of the picture, we often need to find a professional SLR camera comes with image processing software or Photoshop, Lightroom and other large image processing software. In fact, it is not necessary to use these “big” software, a small software nomacs will be able to handle.
The nomacs download page (https://www.snapfiles.com/downloads/nomac/dlnomac.html) is available in 64-bit install and green portable (Portable) versions, here we choose the green portable version.
Run the main EXE program in the software folder after unpacking, a welcome window will pop up, select “Simplified Chinese” to Chineseize the software interface. There are also two options: Register File Associations, which means register file associations; and Set As Default Viewer, which means set as the default image viewer. These two options can be selected on demand (Figure 1).
If the file association option is selected during installation, file associations with all formats supported by the software will be created by default. If this option is not selected, you can also register file associations from the software after installation: click on the “Edit→Settings” menu command to open the settings window, then click on the “File Associations” tab, and in the right pane you can find the RAW formats supported by common DSLR or DSLR cameras (e.g. Canon, Sony, Olympus, Sigma, etc.) as well as Photoshop-specific formats. (e.g. Canon, Sony, Olympus, Sigma, etc.), as well as Photoshop’s dedicated PSD format, check the “Browse” and “Register” checkboxes to register these The “Browse” and “Register” checkboxes can be checked to register these files with the software (Figure 2).
The settings window or the picture window that opens in nomacs software is presented in the form of tabs. The “View” menu command allows you to change the way the picture is viewed and to use the shortcut keys attached to the menu for more efficient operation (Figure 3).
Click the Histogram and File Info commands in the Panel menu to add a histogram or property floating window to the image preview. You can also enable other window preview components.
In the process of browsing pictures, if you need to make simple edits or effect adjustments to the pictures, you can do so through the “Edit” menu and “Adjust” menu commands (Figure 4).
When there are more images to be processed, it is tedious to perform the above operations one by one, so you can use the batch processing function provided by the software to accomplish this. Click the “Tools → Batch” command to call out the batch window, first click the Input tab at the top of the left column of the window, select the image to be processed, and then click Adjustments, select the adjustment items (can be multi-selected), and set the adjustment parameters (Figure 5). Click the “Transform” tab to set the image resize percentage, rotation angle, crop range, etc. Click the “Output” tab to determine the output path, file name, format, image quality, etc. Finally, click the triangle button at the bottom left corner of the window to perform batch operations.
The software’s “Tools” menu has two very useful tools: one is a mosaic picture generation tool, which can generate a mosaic-style picture on the basis of a picture; the other is to extract pictures from files, including DOCX, PPTX, XLSX and other office documents, as well as ZIP archives, including files Extract and view pictures.
