Daily processing of text data or program code often involves the situation of unified processing of content in multiple files. Such as the batch replacement of certain text or replace certain content by line, or the document is divided by content, merge, etc., these operations alone rely on commonly used editors to complete, efficiency will not be very high, the difficulty lies in multiple files. A special software for multi-file content conversion TextConverter, you can easily and efficiently complete a variety of file content batch conversion tasks.
1. build conditions Batch replacement of document content
If you want to batch replace a number of documents in some of the content, click the “File → Open Files” command (or press Ctrl + O key combination), open these documents. Select the Replace Text check box in the right pane, click the subsequent Options button, enter the content to be replaced in the Search for box, and enter the content to be replaced by in the Replace by box. At this time, the Preview window in the lower left pane will display a preview of the content before and after the replacement. Click the Replace button to execute the replacement (Figure 1).
If there is more than one replacement in the document, you can construct all the replacement conditions first and then replace them. To do this, simply click the Add button after entering a set of Search for and Replace by conditions to add the condition to the list of compound replacements. Check the Show Settings for mutiple Replacements option to display all the constructed conditions. Once all the replacement conditions are constructed, click the Convert and Save button to complete the replacement and save the file (Figure 2).
The replacement file can also be saved to a new file in order to keep the original file. First, open the Save Options dialog box by “View→Saving Options” command, then select the Save as new File option, specify the folder to save the new file in the Floder box, specify the file name format (wildcard format and custom format are supported) in the Name box, and specify the file format type (text, image, web page, program code and user-defined format are supported) in the Format box. In the Name box, specify the file name format (supports wildcard format and custom format), and in the Format box, specify the file format type (supports text, image, web page, program code and user-defined format). If you don’t want to keep the original files, select the Delete Original Files option, which will automatically delete the original files after replacement. Once the conditions are set, click Convert and Save to save the replacement (Figure 3).
2. Batch replacement of document content by line
The document content can be replaced not only by keywords, but also by lines. The “line” here we can understand as a natural paragraph, it can be a line of program code, or a paragraph of text in the article. If you want to replace several lines of content into the same paragraph, check the Line Number option, then enter the line number (separated by a comma between two line numbers), and enter the content to be replaced in the Replace with box (Figure 4). Replacement by line can also be changed to contain a line of text content as a condition, select the Text option to achieve. If you select the RegEx option, you can construct regular expressions to address more complex and variable needs.
The other settings for replace are similar to the above. Once set, just perform the replace and save operation.
3. Multi-line or multi-paragraph batch deletion
Not only can achieve batch replacement, we can also use TextConverter to delete multiple lines or paragraphs of text at once.
To delete some text, select Delete Text in the Actions column, and then enter the Delete this Text box to delete the content, click Add to add more to delete the content, perform the deletion operation. If you want to delete by line as a deletion condition, select the Delete Lines check box, and then select the condition method from the list, such as delete by range of lines, delete the line after a line, delete the line containing a text in the line, etc. (Figure 5). After the conditions are constructed, click Convert and Save to delete the content and save the file.
4. HTML code batch processing
When writing web pages, if you want to batch process HTML code, you can also use the batch function of the above software to do so.
Select the HTML Actions checkbox in the Actions pane, and then you can complete the tasks of processing web page files by removing HTML tags, creating web links, creating E-mail links, removing useless tabs, replacing various web code symbols, etc. by selecting them in the list (Figure 6).
5. Batch concatenation and splitting files
Sometimes, we need to join some scattered text into one file, such as the connection of novel chapters; sometimes, and may need to split them for processing. To achieve such tasks, you can use the TextConverter software Join Files and Split Files two Action options to complete.
