We inevitably encounter a variety of problems when using the computer on a daily basis, and sometimes it’s not easy to solve some minor problems instead. In fact, we encountered these problems, many other users have also encountered. So there are some users to develop some small tools, specifically for these problems and targeted solutions.
Hover box to view system resource information
One of the most common concerns we have when using a computer is the system resource usage, as it directly affects the smoothness of the software. Usually to view the system resource usage, in addition to the use of the system task manager, is through the security guard and other software to view. But the security guard software often takes up a lot of system resources itself, so what are the small and simple tools that can directly display it?
In fact, Traffic Monitor is a tool to display system resource information for Windows. After downloading and running this tool, you will see a hover box on the desktop of your system, in which you can display the current information about your system’s processor, memory and network (Figure 1).
If you don’t want the system resource information to be displayed as a hover box, then you can right click on the hover box, select “Other Features” in the menu and then click “Change Notification Area Icon” command in the submenu. Then a setting window will pop up, select the style you want in the “Select Icon” list, and click the “OK” button (Figure 2).
A quick look at program reading and writing
Occasionally when we operate a computer, we will find that the computer’s hard drive light keeps flashing, while the hard drive will spring a rapid read and write clicking sound. This time we need to understand exactly what software is constantly reading and writing the hard drive, so how can we find out the software behind the hard drive reading and writing?
First download the “AppReadWriteCounter” tool and its Simplified Chinese language pack, unzip it and copy and paste the language pack file into the directory where the program files are located and then run the tool. In this way we can see the current information of all software processes in the tool list, and at the same time we can also see the number of times each process reads and writes to the hard disk, the speed of reading and writing, the number of reads and writes, and so on. For example, if we click on the “read” or “write” list button, we can sort through the details of the software that reads and writes more to the hard drive, so as to find out the “real culprit behind the hard drive light that keeps blinking “(Figure 3).
Close multiple software processes at once
The tool “AppReadWriteCounter” allows us to know the information about the software reads to the hard disk, but we cannot manage the software that reads and writes through this tool. So in addition to directly closing the corresponding software, then use other methods how to close the specified software process?
First of all, run “Ultimate Process Killer”, a tool that will automatically list all the processes that are currently running in the window list after running. Users only need to check the name of the software process to be ended, and then click the “Kill Selected Process” button below to end all the processes that have been checked (Figure 4).
The last thing to remember is that you must be careful when checking the list processes. Be especially careful with those processes that do not have icons, because these processes may be system processes. If you end it, it may cause system instability or even crash, so the safest way is to restart the system immediately and see if the process is still frantically reading and writing to the hard disk.
Limit the mouse to a specific window
The mouse can be very convenient to help users to complete a large number of computer operations, but the mouse has a very obvious problem, is sometimes difficult to find the mouse cursor where. Especially when the user is in the special operation of the game, it is very frantic. So how can I fix the mouse to the set window inside it?
First download and run “Display Lock” this tool, it will automatically get the current system inside all the open window list, and will these window names one by one in the tool list. In the list, select the name of the window you want to run, and then click the “Start” button to complete the setup. Next, the user only needs to switch to the set window, so that the user’s mouse has been controlled in the window range (Figure 5).
When we are not restricting the mouse, use the “Alt + Tab” shortcut to switch to the “Display Lock” window, and finally press the “Stop” button to unlock it.
Quick access to file address information
Copying a file is one of the most common operations in a computer, but sometimes we want to get not the file itself, but the current path address of the file. Do not look at such a simple operation, but to get it is very difficult. So how can we quickly get the path address of a file?
First of all, download and run “DragDropToClipboard”, a small tool, and then drag and drop the file whose path address you want to copy directly to the DragDropToClipboard window to release it, so that the path address of the file will be automatically copied to the system’s The path address of the file will be automatically copied to the system’s clipboard (Figure 6).
If the user is not currently comfortable with dragging and dropping with the mouse, then you can copy the file in the traditional way and then click the left mouse button on the window of this tool to get the path address of the file successfully. No matter which way you take, you can get the path addresses of multiple files at the same time.
In the lower right corner of the tool there is an “Auto copy” option, if the user checks this option, then when the user copies a file in Explorer, it will automatically copy the file and the file path information to the system’s clipboard. If the user is operating in a text editor, then the path information of the file is pasted. If the operation is performed in Explorer, then the file itself is pasted.
