System hacks: the use of “drawing” ordinary software is unusual

Windows 10 “Paint” is an image processing software that is not given much attention. The main reason why users do not choose this software for image processing is that it is often considered to be too simple, and its use is mostly constrained by its functions, which makes it more time-consuming and difficult to complete the work. In fact, in the usual processing of images, it can be easily achieved in the “drawing” in many needs, but we mistakenly think that “drawing” can not. Therefore, if you can dig deeper and make good use of certain features of this software, in many cases it is not necessary to use third-party software.

1. old negative processing to achieve color flip

If you need to reverse the color of the entire image or a part of the image to become a negative effect, people often need to rely on Photoshop and other image processing software. In fact, this effect can be achieved by using a simple command in the “Paint” software. This will be very useful when dealing with the negatives of some old photos, and can be converted at will between the negative and the positive.

To convert the entire picture to negative, press the Ctrl+Alt key combination, then click the right mouse button and select the “Invert” command from the shortcut menu (Figure 1).

After that, we can get a “negative”, which is a reverse color picture (Figure 2). If you need to convert only one area of the picture, use the Area Selection command to select the area to be converted, then right-click in the selected area and select the Invert Color command. If you want to achieve the conversion between negative and positive film, the procedure is similar.

Tip: If you need to carry out part of the area color flip, the selection of the selection can not only be carried out by rectangular area, but also free to choose the shape of the graphic with your bare hands, but also in the form of transparency. For the specific application of transparent images, see described below.

2. Background transparency to achieve perfect composition

Images with transparent backgrounds are easy to merge with other images, so that they do not leave spots in the composition. To do this, we need to first use Windows 10 “Paint” to copy an area of the image in transparent form for use in a composite.

To copy a picture area with a transparent background, click on the “Image→Select→Transparent Selection” command under the “Home” menu; then, under the same menu, select the “Free Graphic Selection “command, carefully depict and mark the outline of the selection, and then perform the copy or cut operation can be (Figure 3). If you want to copy the picture area is a rectangular rectangular area, then after selecting the “Transparent Selection” command, directly select the “Rectangular Selection” command, to frame the selection can be.

Sometimes we need to cover a part of an image with a picture, but we would be worried about the messy outline lines when resizing due to improper size when overlaying. In this case, we just need to open the image to be pasted in Paint first, then enlarge it to a sufficient size, and then copy it to the clipboard with a transparent background. After that, no matter how much you enlarge the image and paste it, you don’t have to worry about the messy outline lines in the pasted image.

3. Custom Size Brush Infinite Zoom

When drawing in Paint, we may use different sizes of brushes. However, the brush size given by the drawing software has only a few fixed size options. In fact, we can also freely choose the thickness of the brush brushes according to our needs.

The specific way to change the brush size is to select the brush you need, and then press the Ctrl plus “+” key combination on the keyboard, you can make the brush gradually larger; and if you press the Ctrl plus “-” key combination, you can make the brush size gradually reduced (Figure 4).

Tip: This method also applies to the pencil, eraser, line and spray tool size settings.

4. customize the shape of the brush as you wish to change

The “drawing” software has only a few fixed types of brushes, and that’s all the shapes that can be drawn (Figure 5). So, is it possible to use a user-selected shape as a brush and use it to paint along a certain path? In fact, by using custom shapes, you can make use of any brush.

First, draw a custom shape of any kind and use it as a custom brush. If you need a regular shape, you can use the “Shape” menu of the “Brush” software to directly select a regular shape, for example, a cardinal pattern (Figure 6).

Next, with the Transparency option turned on, select the cardinal shape in the “Free Shape Selection” method described above and prepare to draw (Figure 7).

Keep the Shift key pressed and drag the selected cardinal shape so that you get the drawing effect of a brush with a custom cardinal shape (Figure 8). For other custom brushes of various shapes, the method is similar to this.
