Office hacks: to create a template library document management in an organized manner

Office when some documents are often reused by us, such as personal history, leave orders, plans, contracts, etc., many people like to store documents everywhere, over time, a lot of documents, when using the same file again, you do not remember where to use the file at the moment put. In fact, we can create their own template library, the document is categorized and stored, when you open Word, you can directly click into the instant use. So, such a template library is how to achieve it? The following operation in Word 2013 as an example to explain.

First of all, the local computer in a disk partition named “Templates” folder, and then in it and then create several folders in different categories, such as the establishment of the name “resume”, “plan ” folder; open the “Templates” folder this level, click on the address bar at the top of the window, select the address path (such as “E: Templates”), copy; open Word documents, click “File → Options”, in the pop-up window in the left column, click “Save” a, in the right pane of the “default personal template location” to paste the address just copied, click “OK” (Figure 1).


Next, we find some commonly used documents, as templates or models, stored in the corresponding folder. If you open a commonly used CV file, delete the content filled in it, leaving only the fixed content and format that needs to exist, click “File → Save As”, select a good storage location in the pop-up window (i.e., the previously established “CV” folder ), select “Word template.dotx” at the file type (Figure 2).


In this way, when you open Word, click “File → New”, select “Personal” in the window, and then click the appropriate category of folders, select the appropriate template, after opening the new document window to enter the required content can be (Figure 3).


If you commonly use documents with date and time entry requirements, you may want to insert a date picker into the template. Position the cursor in the template where the date needs to be inserted, select the “Development Tools” tab, and click “Controls → Date Picker Control”. In this way, for the use of the template for the new document, if you need to enter the date, we only need to select a date from the picker, you will be able to quickly enter the date, more convenient (Figure 4).


Tip: If there is no “Development Tools” tab, click “File→Options”, click “Customize Ribbon” in the pop-up window, and check “Development Tools” on the right side of the window.
