Although we usually use antivirus software to protect the system, but antivirus software does not guarantee 100% absolute security, so sometimes we also need to use other tools to protect. But virtual machines are more troublesome for ordinary users to operate, so the best choice is to use a sandbox to test the software.
Activate all the functions of the software
When it comes to sandboxing software many people think of Sandboxie, but this software is a paid software, so today we choose a free sandbox software “Cybergenic Shade Sandbox” (https://www. shadesandbox.com/). Although this software is a freeware, it will ask users to enter their name and email address during the installation process. It is important to remember that the email address should not be set randomly, because the website will send the activation code of the software to the email address (Figure 1).
Once the software is successfully installed, click the “Shade Sandbox” button on the left side and then click the “Activate” button at the bottom of the interface. Paste the activation code into it and it will be successfully activated, then the user can start using it normally. By default, “Cybergenic Shade Sandbox” has already created a sandbox, users can create other sandboxes by clicking the plus sign next to it to avoid interfering with each other during testing.
Testing files inside the sandbox
When we want to test a software program inside the sandbox, we just need to drag and drop the software program into the sandbox to release it, and then we can see the icon of the added program in the software window list (Figure 2).
Next, double-click on the software icon to run it in the sandbox. The software program running in the sandbox will be displayed with a blue aperture around the software window to distinguish it from other normal running programs. In addition, we can also right-click on the software program icon and select the “Open in Default sandbox” command in the menu to quickly load it into the sandbox for running (Figure 3).
Tip: By selecting the “Put into Shade” command in the right-click menu, you can see a “Cybergenic Shade Sandbox” logo on the software icon, and all future All runs of the software program will be protected by the sandbox.
If you want to remove the software application from the sandbox, first select the icon of the software application in the list, and then click the “Remove an application from Shade” button. Since the sandbox generates a lot of cache information when it is running, clicking “Clean up Sandbox” will clean up the entire sandbox. And click the “Open Virtual Folder” button, in the pop-up dialog box, you can view the data in the sandbox, so that users can copy the files they need from it.
Tip: If you don’t like to use English software, then you can also try “To be safe sandbox”, a Chinese sandbox tool (http://www.11safe.com/). After installation, click the “Open Program” button at the bottom of the interface, select the software program to run in the sandbox, and then you can test the operation inside the sandbox.
