In the Windows 10 File Explorer window, there are some hidden panes that are not usually revealed, and these panes have special applications. Here are a few special applications for the Details pane, Preview pane, and Navigation pane.
1. The application of the details pane
The details pane can be used to remove certain properties of a file. Select a file in Explorer, click the “View” menu, select the “Details Pane” option in the “Pane” function group, and then the “Details Pane” will open automatically on the right side. The details pane will then open automatically on the right side. Right-click on the blank area of the details pane to bring up the “Delete Properties” option, and click on it (Figure 1).
In the “Delete Properties” window that then appears, select the “Delete the following properties from this file” option, then select the properties to be deleted and click “OK” (Figure 2).
Alternatively, if you do not want an attribute of the file to be deleted, you can use the details pane to create a copy that does not contain any deleteable attributes. Simply check the “Create a copy without any deleteable attributes” option in Figure 2 above and click the “OK” button to create it, then delete the source file. 2.
2. The two applications of the preview pane
We know that through Explorer’s “Pane” grouping option to open the “Preview Pane”, so you can directly preview the contents of the TXT file in the right pane without opening Notepad, but the font in the pane is small. So, how to make the font in this pane to change the style and display a larger font size? In fact, just set the font and font size in the Notepad software, and then in the preview pane you can see a larger custom font (Figure 3).
In addition, we can also preview the content of documents such as Word, Excel or PPT directly in Explorer without opening Microsoft Office. If the preview function of these office documents does not work, through the Registry Editor, open the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPreviewHandlers” path, in which you can rebuild the corresponding content of the string value (Figure 4).
3. Two ways to control the navigation pane
The common way to control the Windows 10 navigation pane is to use the Navigation Pane menu under the View tab. In fact, you can also select “Show all folders” or “Expand to current folder” from the shortcut menu in areas without the Navigation Pane menu, for example, when you are not in the View menu, by right-clicking on the blank space below the left navigation area. ” or “Expand to current folder” from the shortcut menu to control the exact scope of the Navigation Pane (Figure 5).
